About Steve
I am an older man with high moral standards and a keen sense of right and wrong. I have been around cats and dogs from the age of 3. I am extremely reliable and trustworthy. I am married and for 26 years (2022) we have had Cats and Dogs
I have decided to be a pet sitter after reading a book about a woman who goes to do an emergency house sitting job and had to look after a dog and a horse too which was unexpected. I also think that a lot of dogs and cats do not do well in kennels and are liable to pick up bugs and viruses through no fault of the kennel owner.
In the second half of 2022 I completed four dog sitting sessions for two different families, one with two dogs and the other with 3 dogs and a cat and I enjoyed both a lot. I am able to follow instructions and I can diligently follow a set routine that is required. I have looked after other peoples dogs in our home of which one was a Malamute which had to be cordoned off from my two and a lurcher belonging to a lady who was in and out of hospital regularly.
I would like a dossier on what you would like doing with regards to feeding, medicating and walking your pet/pets. If you have other animals like chickens, goats, sheep or horses what they would require in the form of care. I will also be willing to water your plants/garden.
I am used to animals that are old or infirm as well as young dogs with boundless energy and pups. I like a challenge and would be happy to do some basic training with pups and juveniles. I enjoy walking with dogs for company and love walking in the countryside.
After rescuing Berry yellow Lab, an ex puppy farm breeder aged 2 years who was totally shut down and wanting no interaction with people at all. Turning her around and watching her grow in confidence and character has been an absolute pleasure. The rescue cannot believe how far she has come in under 2 years (Aug22 to Jun24) and I am now planning on fostering the really broken ones to start them on the road to rehabilitation. This means I may need to bring the current broken dog with me for any sitting if I am fostering at that time.
I have a lifetime of experience with animals including horses, cows, sheep, goats, pigs and fowl plus a syrian hamster or two.
