About Linda
My name is Linda, I'm a retired primary teacher who's lived with dogs my whole life. At the moment I share my life with Jett, an elderly rescue greyhound, and Lady the Lurcher, who is also a rescue dog. We live in Eaglesham. Eaglesham has excellent dog walking open areas, including a park which is partly forested.
My house is completely dog orientated. There are three baskets in the living room, Jett has his own sofa in my bedroom and Lady has her own chair in there though she prefers to sleep under the bedcovers. Jett spends most of his time sleeping but Lady is more active: she particularly likes chasing balls and throwing her soft toys, and my slippers, about in the house. We have a large, fenced off back garden which is completely secure.
If I had my own way I'd have another dog but I know that's probably not sensible so one of the reasons I'd like to pet sit is that I would get to borrow other people's dogs for a while. Also, I know from personal experience how difficult it can be to find someone with experience of looking after dogs with special requirements. Both Lady and especially Jett have bladder issues so I'm used to getting up at least twice a night to let them out. If a visiting dog needed that they could just join mine in the garden in the middle of the night. My furniture is covered with dog covers in case of accidents and my attitude about that is "stuff happens, deal with it". Jett needs medication twice a day so giving a guest dog his or hers wouldn't be an issue, I'd just buy extra sliced meat to wrap the pills up in.
Both my dogs have good recall and if an owner assured me their dog was the same I'd be happy to let him or her off the lead. However, if a dog wasn't quite as willing to come back when called as they could be and if an owner felt their dog needed a daily run there's a good dog run less than a mile away from my house which charges £6 per half hour and I'd be willing to take our visitor there, though this would incur an extra charge. My dogs are not left on their own for long periods, basically just when I go shopping or out to meet friends, so your dog would have human company most of the time.
Lady and Jett are both fully vaccinated and I would require that any guest hounds also be vaccinated.
I hope I've persuaded any potential clients that their dogs would be welcome and well cared for here and look forward to potentially meeting you soon.
It is with heartbreak that I have to amend my profile due to Jett's passing a few months ago. He was a fair age for a greyhound but succumbed to cancer. I miss him very much but am comforted by knowing that he was loved and cared for every minute we had together since I got him from GAL, the greyhound rescue site. He was a good boy.
