About Tom
Hello, I'm Tom and I live near Stafford town centre. I'd love to help you out by taking your dog for walks or paying home visits to your pets. I'm caring, reliable and professional.
· Dependable – whenever I commit to something, I always see it through, come rain or shine, regardless of any unexpected circumstance.
· Amiable, caring and enthusiastic – I love meeting new people, and spending time with dogs brings me great joy. I'll take good care of the canine member of your family and engage his or her enthusiasm and (for walking) love of the great outdoors. For pet sitting with other animals, I'll pay them all the attention you'd expect, and more.
· Switched-on and careful – I also run a sole trader consultancy and I know the importance of a professional attitude and customer care. I'll treat you and your pets with the same thoughtfulness that I extend to my most valued consultancy clients. I'll use Pawshake's free meet-and-greet arrangement to become familiar with the needs and behaviour of your pet, such as allergies and feeding arrangements (if appropriate).
The Pawshake Guarantee (https://www.pawshake.co.uk/pawshake-guarantee) already covers any veterinary costs that could arise during a booking. You can rest assured that the booking will also be insured under standard pet insurance (for example to cover any injuries to third parties). I will also ensure that I have spare supplies before walking your dog, such as a spare lead and collar.
I'm also available for home visits. If you'd like me to spend time in your home with your pet, please contact me and we can discuss this. Similarly, I'm very happy to discuss how long I would walk your dog or where I could take them. I'm happy to collect your dog from anywhere within about 3km of my home, or pay home visits in the same area. (If it's not in the Castletown area, I'd prefer it if there is somewhere I can chain a bike up.) I expect I will largely be providing solo walks (walking just your dog) – if this is something you are keen to ensure, contact me and we can discuss this. Unfortunately, I'm unable to host.
And now, a little about me, and why I want to walk dogs.
My family had pets since I was small. When I was 10 my family got our first dog, and our second 18 months later. They were lovely happy, companionable dogs – they are shown in the last two photos in my profile. They got on well with the rabbits and guinea pigs we already had. I loved taking them for walks, throwing things for them and chasing them around the park or beach. When I went to university, I used to take them for walks in the holidays – sometimes quite long walks. I've also often walked the two dogs my parents have had since then.
I live on my own, but I'm a very sociable person and love meeting new people. Of course, that was very limited during the COVID restrictions. When the restrictions allowed us to meet up with one other person outdoors, I found I knew several people with dogs and would go for walks with them.
It was then that it hit me how much I'd missed the company of dogs.
I've always enjoyed walking, whether alone or in company. I also find it very beneficial: my life involves a lot of sitting at a laptop and walking helps keep me active and healthy.
Walking in Stafford and the surrounding countryside can be delightful – but can be even better with canine company!
Do get in touch - I'm looking forward to meeting you and your furry best friend!
