About Dominika
My name is Dominika and I am a recent graduate from the University of York (submitting my PhD Thesis at the start of January 2024).
I have always loved pets and have grew up with both a cat and a dog. One of my favourite childhood stories was of our American Staffordshire Terrier (Amstaf) who jumped into my crib and curled up around me because it couldn't wait to be introduced to the new baby in the family.
Over my early and young teens, my family adopted two cats (Oriana and Mala) and two dogs (Biscuit and Maggie). We firmly believe that pets are family members and I think its easy to say that they are beyond spoilt! After starting my PhD programme, I have had the pleasure of adopting my beautiful hamster Fred (who sadly passed away in 2022) who would run around the living room during his free-roam times and would climb onto the couch to sit with us and accept treats. More recently in 2023, with my fiance we adopted our lovely tortie Cleo who has been our joy and pride. I love animals and am so proud that a large portion of my life involved having them as part of my family.

I have decided to apply to be a cat sitter after having an amazing experience on PawShake. I know that as much as we love our pets, sometimes the best thing to do for them is to leave them at home while you have to go away... and I know how stressful that can be as a pet-parent. Having benefited from hiring cat sitters in the past, I want to do my part in helping worried pet-parents and making their time away less worrisome. I am here to make sure your fur-baby is fed, played with and happy - and that you get however much documentation of this as you'd like. I am here to help you make sure your baby is all good!
I am very comfortable visiting cats, dogs, and hamsters, but if you have a different animal that you'd like me to look into then I am happy to have a chat about that too! I love all pets and, besides insects, feel comfortable getting to know any type of fur/scale-baby. Unfortunately due to my Cleo being a bit of a scared-y cat, I am only available for visiting at your home.

Happy to look after dogs, cats and rodents. I've had a hamster before, but would be happy to also look after other rodents when provided with instructions.
I don't have experience with administering medication, but would be happy to do so with careful instructions and a demonstration.
I have a car and am happy to work throughout York.
