About Padma Bharrathi

Heyaa!

You've clicked the right profile if you are wanting/need a friendly, caring, and patient cynophilist! I am Padma. I came to the UK as a student a couple of years back and have moved down to Cambridge for work. The one thing that has been keeping me fascinated about this country is DOGS! Dogs everywhere and anywhere. Trust me, I always gaze at dogs whilst I go out and I have never stopped myself from playing with them. Dog mums and dads, I have met so far have been incredibly kind enough to let me pet them and play with them.

Trust me, it is really hard for me to express my love for dogs in words, I am sure you're in the same boat as well, but I am trying my best to make you feel I am still the right person to take care of your pet with utmost care and love.

Why do I want to become a dog sitter?

The answer is pretty simple and straightforward, dogs give me happiness.

I have always loved being around dogs, and as I have mentioned, I have been missing the joy of being around them and I think, now I feel I am ready to get that joy back. I believe, doggos have been my best friend and will always be. I don't want to extend the relationship I share with dogs. I want to enjoy their cute gestures of them in real life more than reading about them in books or watching them on Instagram reels. At the same time as a pet parent myself, I understand the practical difficulties of having pets as well - going out on holidays ensuring the pet is safe and comfortable with the right person. I am sure, I can take that responsibility to take care of your pet as mine :)

I love to take care of dogs, feed them, take them for walks, and give them a nice bath. I have been doing this for my babies (dogs). I'm sure I can befriend your doggie, and ensure good care for him/her.

I can't bring dogs to my place of stay, more than happy to dog sit at your place :)

How can I take care of your pet?

Long walks/Short walks

Feed them at regular intervals and in quantity

Give them a nice bath

Play with them/Engage them in what they like!

If there are any special requirements or special care, happy to get that sorted :)

Do I have experience?

Yes, I do. I have taken care of my family friends' pets.

My first dog!

I come from India, where we have very few dog parents, and I am glad that my family is part of them. I have had dogs at my home right from the age of 8. I still remember who brought a white Indie breed paw friend when I was a small girl. The memory of him stays evergreen. And as I grew up, I got a present - the book - Marley and Me. I rejoiced, and enjoyed, reading the book and I was drowning in a pool of tears when I was about to finish the book, especially the eulogy for Marley. I watched the movie as well, and have suggested the book and the movie to almost all of my friends. I watched the movie with my boyfriend who is also a dog person as I am. I read the book to him, and we cried over several phrases in the book.

I have read and watched several dog-themed books and movies like The Art of Racing in the Rain, A Dog's way home, A Dog's Purpose, The Call of the Wild, and Hachiko. There's not a single book or movie I finished without tissues and tears. My love for dogs has been growing along with me, incessantly.

Baby Sitting Dogs

I inherited my love for dogs from my dad. He has an ardent and strong love for the canines. He always took me to his colleagues' places if they had dog(s). That's how my love for dogs grew beyond what I imagined. Though I grew a dog at home, my incessant love for dogs made me babysit dogs. I volunteered to take care of dogs when pet parents required help. I have been a dog sitter a couple of times.

Choco and Oreo

When I was doing my bachelor's degree back in India, we had two more dogs - Choco and Oreo; Chocco cannot hear and Oreo was rescued from a street. I just had the best days of my life. I woke up to them, took them around for walks, played with them, gave them baths, and spent most of my time with them. I always feel it is always amazing to live with dogs, as they understand us so well though they can't talk. I love the way they love me, and how they receive me when I come back home. They start making sounds, they bark, wag tails, and leap on me when I enter my house. I just hug them, pamper them, kiss them, and cuddle with them as a first thing. That's something I miss very badly.

I suppose I have tried to explain why and how I love dogs and my experience as a pet parent and dog sitter. Thank you for taking the time to read.
